Top Student at The City of Hope!

Hilda Zulu is the star of The City of Hope! With five distinctions, a credit and a merit, Hilda is the top student for 2011. We rejoice with her, as her grade 12 results have just come out.

Hilda came to City of Hope together with her older sister when she was five years of age. She’s performed well and we wish her the best for her future. Congratulations! We are so proud!

School Building Progress

The second block of classrooms is nearly finished! All that is left is a little more work on the exterior and the installation of the chalkboards when they arrive. It will take some time to have the desks made, but we are still so thankful to our very generous donors Misean Cara and a family trust who have made this building possible.

The foundation of the administration block is completed and VIDES Italy has presented this project to a donor organization for funding, which we hope will be approved. We are now appealing for funds for the specialized classroom block for grades 10-12 and the female toilet block. Red De Porte y Cooperacion is working to obtain assistance for the courtyard.

The sooner the school is completed, the sooner the government will take us up as a grant-aided school! Please pray for the final funds to come through.

Thank You Swedish Caritas!

We are extremely grateful to Swedish Caritas for the gift of a much-needed John Deere tractor, which will enable us to “carry on from where we left off” over a full year ago when our original tractor was ruined in a road accident.

This new tractor will have many uses: to plough the land, transport blocks to the building site of the new school, cut the grass after the rainy season, and collect vegetables for animal feed from a nearby farm.  Our goats will finally put on weight!

The Church in Sweden has been most generous to us over the past few years. We pray that all of their donors are blessed a hundredfold. Thank you for this important gift.
